Earthquakes and God

Earthquakes…d

I don’t understand them. They confuse me. They make me question the existence of god –or a higher power– who is worshiped especially for his justice, love and passion. And where is the justice in the death of millions of people in an earthquake?d

If you can stand it, search the Web and take a look at the pictures of the Haiti earthquake. Take a look at all of the bodies lying around… bodies of babies and children… heavily injured or deceased, bodies stuck in the debris of the buildings… Take a look at the pain and the fear in their eyes… take a look at the mourning, devastated people who have lost EVERYTHING and then tell me there is a god… who is passionate and loving and fair… and then I would want to know why these little children have to go through such an excruciating pain? Why do these poor, unfortunate people have to suffer like this by losing their loved ones and becoming homeless just like that?d

Sure, there is a science behind the earthquake. It happens as a result of a sudden release of energy in the Earth's crust that creates seismic waves which cause the ground to shake. If that’s not enough, I’m sure this animated piece will explain it better, but my point is… if there is a higher power, then he does not match the qualities attributed to him… He lets beings like Hitler get off easy, without taking responsibility for their words and actions, without facing the justice, and then innocent people suffer like this. Honestly, in times like this I prefer to believe in nothing than to believe in a god who is cruel to his created beings.d
